On 7 May 2011, the Australian government announced a deal with Malaysia that would see the country send 800 asylum seekers to Malaysia in return for 4000 refugees. The media has called it the "Malaysia Solution" but is it a solution at all? Refugee Council of Australia CEO, Paul Power, and UNSW's Centre for Refugee Research Director, Dr Eileen Pittaway, share their reaction on the government's deal with Malaysia and their thoughts on a better solution that would be much closer to home.
