Advocating for the advancement of LGBT rights in a repressive country

On the occasion of the visit to Paris this weekend Judith Ngunjiri, the Inter lgbt Ardhis and organize a time for exchanges on the issue of promoting LGBT rights in countries where homosexuality is penalized, and where is suppressed:

• What role for diaspora lgbt countries in question?

Judith Ngunjiri is Kenyan and is committed to his country and his continent for several years for the rights of LGBT people. She is a founding member of GALK (Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya) and the Minority Women in Action (lesbian feminist association). She is also member of CAL (Coalition of African Lesbians).

Around Judith, to enrich the exchange, have been invited to this occasion in Paris refugee activists who try to continue their work despite the distance:

• Usaam, activist Ugandan recently recognized refugee who comes to Paris to create the association year African Gays Lesbians Against Homophobia
• XECON activist of Bangladesh and asylum seeker
• Stephane Cameroonian asylum seeker, a former member of the association Alternatives Cameroon

The evening will be hosted by Thomas Lapar-Fouquet, president of the association Ardhis and Jan Beddeleem, president of the Belgian Wish. These two organizations are acting in their respective countries for the rights of homosexuals and transsexuals foreigners seeking protection in respect of or fears persecution in their countries of origin.

A l'occasion du passage à Paris ce week-end de Judith Ngunjiri, l'Ardhis et l'inter lgbt organisent un moment d'échanges sur la question de la promotion des droits lgbt dans les pays où l'homosexualité est pénalisée et où elle est réprimée:

• Comment agir pour la promotion des droits dans un pays où l'homosexualité est pénalisée, réprimée ?
• Comment agir à distance, depuis l'Europe, pour soutenir les actions menées localement ?
• Comment mutualiser nos actions ici en Europe avec les actions menées localement ?
• Quel rôle pour la diaspora lgbt des pays en question ?

Judith Ngunjiri est kenyane et elle s'engage dans son pays et sur son continent depuis plusieurs années pour les droits des personnes lgbt. Elle est membre fondatrice du GALK (Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya) et du Minority Women in Action (association lesbienne féministe). Elle fait aussi partie des membres du CAL (Coalition of African Lesbians).

Autour de Judith, pour enrichir l'échange, ont été invité à cette occasion des militants réfugiés à Paris qui tentent de continuer leur action malgré la distance:

La soirée sera animée par Thomas Fouquet-Lapar, président de l'association Ardhis, et Jan Beddeleem, président de l'association belge Wish. Ces deux organisations agissent dans leurs pays respectifs pour les droits des étrangers homosexuels et transsexuels qui sollicitent une protection relativement à des persécutions subies ou craintes dans leurs pays d'origine.
