France: A call for support for Nigerian asylum seeker Victoria

The accompanying ARDHIS Victoria (first loan) for over a year and a record that is dear to my heart to all the volunteers of the association.

Victoria arrived in France in Nigeria in 2007 and applied for asylum in our country because of persecution in his country as a homosexual. His application for asylum was rejected by OFPRA. It has therefore made an appeal to the Court of the National Right to Asylum. This is after filing his appeal that Victoria has experienced Ardhis. Since we regularly accompany his different approaches: construction of its action in coordination with his lawyer, steps to assert its various social, human relationships and moral support. Victoria is in good physical health, but she lives with a psychological trauma for which she is followed and that it requires plenty of rest.

As an asylum seeker, Victoria has a temporary residence permit and a waiting allowance (320 euros), granted by the state since it has no work permit. She should be supported in a housing (CADA), but the shelters are full. Failing to have a place in a nursing home, Victoria was fortunately supported from late 2007 to late 2008 in a hotel office the 10th arrondissement of Paris. But the association manager could not keep. Also, since the beginning of this year 2009, she lives in right and left, between a hotel precarious financed by the allocation and the hospitality of a friend.
 
She waited for the hearing of his appeal as a liberation. But it has unfortunately suffered two postponements of the hearing: first, the Court did not convene an interpreter, the second time she had called an interpreter in Yoruba and not in English as requested! It is therefore now 1 year and a half it has filed its appeal and that it expects its audience.

To allow it to happen in a good mental state at the second summons, the Ardhis had supported funding (EUR 270) for two weeks of hotel before that date. Our Association can not reasonably renew this extraordinary expense.

Today she is awaiting the call to the audience (hopefully for sometime in October). Until then it is imperative that it be stabilized in terms of housing and that is why we are asking you:

- A financial assistance to Ardhis which would finance a new hotel accommodation in cheap
- Or hospitality offering Victoria an independent room with a bed

APPEL A SOUTIEN: Victoria, demandeuse d'asile du Nigéria

L'ARDHIS accompagne Victoria (prénom d'emprunt) depuis plus d'un an et c'est un dossier qui tient particulièrement à cœur à tous les bénévoles de l'association.

Victoria est arrivée en France du Nigéria en 2007 et a demandé l'asile à notre pays du fait des persécutions subies dans son pays en tant qu'homosexuelle. Sa demande d'asile a été rejetée par l'OFPRA. Elle a donc formulé un recours devant la Cour Nationale du Droit d'Asile. C'est après avoir déposé son recours que Victoria a connu l'Ardhis. Depuis, nous l'accompagnons régulièrement dans ses différentes démarches : construction de son recours en coordination avec son avocat, démarches pour faire valoir ses différents droits sociaux, liens humains et soutien moral. Victoria est en bonne santé physique, mais elle vit avec un traumatisme psychologique pour lequel elle est suivie et qui lui impose beaucoup de repos.

En tant que demandeuse d'asile, Victoria dispose d'une autorisation provisoire de séjour et d'une allocation d'attente (320 euros), octroyée par l'Etat puisqu’elle n'a pas d'autorisation de travail. Elle aurait dû être prise en charge dans un logement (CADA), mais les centres d'accueil sont pleins. A défaut d'avoir une place dans un centre d'accueil, Victoria a heureusement été prise en charge, de fin 2007 à fin 2008, dans un hôtel social du 10e arrondissement de Paris. Mais l'association gestionnaire n'a pas pu la garder. Aussi, depuis le début de cette année 2009, elle vit à droite et à gauche, entre un hôtel précaire qu'elle finance par son allocation et l'hospitalité d'une amie.

Elle attendait l'audience de son recours comme une libération. Mais elle a hélas subi deux renvois de son audience : la première fois, la Cour n'avait pas convoqué d'interprète ; la deuxième fois, elle avait convoqué un interprète en Yoruba et non pas en Anglais comme demandé ! Cela fait donc maintenant 1 an et demi qu'elle a déposé son recours et qu'elle attend son audience.

Pour lui permettre d'arriver dans un bon état psychique à sa deuxième convocation, l'Ardhis avait pris en charge le financement (270 euros) de deux semaines d'hôtel avant cette date. Notre association ne pourra raisonnablement pas renouveler cette dépense exceptionnelle.
Aujourd’hui elle attend sa nouvelle convocation pour l’audience (on l’espère pour courant octobre). D’ici là il est impérieux qu’elle soit stabilisée en terme de logement et c’est pourquoi, nous vous sollicitons:

- soit une aide financière versée à l'Ardhis qui permettrait le financement d'un nouvel hébergement dans cet hôtel bon marché
- soit l'hospitalité en offrant à Victoria une chambre indépendante avec un lit
